Guest guest
I have been buying previously owned clothing for years and years. When I lived in the Los Angeles area, it was the best!!! I had a favorite shop that phoned me whenever this model brought in her stuff. I wore a size 4 and sometimes 6 and so did she. She was real tall and skinny though and I’m 5’1”. Her hem lines would be way, way to short but just right on me. The stuff was hardly used and clean and real good quality. You can also find really high priced designer cloths that rich people wear in the evening once or twice and don’t want to be seen in it again. My husband & I ballroom danced in some beautiful places then and I got one dress there. I only did it once though because even as a used garment, it cost a lot. Here is a joke. I was in this shop that asked too much for their stuff in my opinion. I picked up a pair of men’s P.J.’s and asked: “how much”. They were cotton and I think I remember cost about $15. I said: “What, why so much?” She said: “dear, those were Redford’s”. My mom and I laughed and laughed! I also know these little out of the way back alley places that never advertised and sold things that were bought at close-outs from good stores. I had the most beautiful, unusual sweaters. Those were the days when I had outside sales jobs and had an excuse to wear pretty cloths. I still have quite a few of the things. I miss that about L.A. In this town when you buy something, everyone knows where you got it. I still shop thrift stores though but the quality isn’t as good here.
