I am schedule to have myo. I had embolization (UFE) 4

years my fibroid did shrink but I want to have a child

so I want have the fibroid removed. Is the myo a

painful procedure, also can you take care of yourself

if needed?

Thanks,

Hi KC-

It was painful after the procedure where the incision was. For me , getting in

and out of bed was very painful because you use your stomach muscles, which are

cut. This was difficult for awhile. I also bled after the surgery, so had some

cramping as well.

In my opinion, you will need help after the surgery. You cannot drive for

several weeks, so you wil at least need someone to depend on to take you places,

especially for an emergency. You won't be able to lift anything heavy or do

simple chores around the house like cleaning, taking out trash, reaching up

high, etc. If you live alone, maybe now is a good time to line some friends and

neighbors up to help you with these things.
