Guest guest
Despite the claims that " there comes a time when there is nothing more to be done " , I still find behind all the premise that chronic pain can be dealt with once and for all -- phrases like " to recover from " and " this is your pain and it is going to be you who changes it " keep cropping up. Yes, you have to be " open to further improvement " , but I find I have to protect myself from blind hope. I'm not questioning the validity of the suggestions. The " relinquishing of personal power...[to] family and professionals " is one of the points that most struck me, as I recently discovered I had done so myself, despite specifically guarding against it. Still, the semantics of " recovery " group versus " support " group are masking an underlying supposition that you can figure out how to deal with chronic pain and get your old life back... ....course, I'm kinda touchy on the subject ;-) Mark
