Hi Simone ..

Remember .. the skin is an organ .. if he is getting rashes, then he has organ

involvement.

How long has your hubby been on the prednisone, plaquenil, and the imuran?

Just curious, because they all have different times for how long it takes them

to make a difference.

Prednisone starts almost immediately and in the larger doses can be felt within

an hour or two of taking it.

Plaquenil takes at least 6 weeks to 4 months before seeing a difference in pain

levels.

Imuran also takes a while to take full effect even though you may feel the side

effect of nausea almost immediately, the suppressing of

the immune system takes several weeks.

Many people do quite well on chemo to treat Lupus .. others do not .. like in

all drugs .. it is a gamble to see if the med will work or

not. What may work in one person will not work in another and vice versa. That

is just the nature of Lupus .. everyone is different with

different symptoms so there is no one course of treatment.

good luck ..

Hi , Dwight's been on plaquenil for about 3 months and

prednisone it seems like forever, his doctor keeps adjusting his

dosage. His doctor is talking about trying a new experimental drug on

Dwight, Dwight couldnt remember the name of it, also Dwight's platlet

count is really low about 106, it was 5000 when he first got sick. Do

you know what platlets do? Thanks for your concern, its nice to have

someone to discuss this with.
