Yeah - but the lawsuits are real. My migraines are real, the people I know

that have problems are real. My doctor says stay away from it. So I would

approach it with caution, even if snopes says there is no proof. If you

start to notice short-term memory issues, or an increase in headaches, then

keep track. Does it happen within a coupled hours of having something with

aspartame in it. Talk to your Doctor and get his take.

My husband does not appear to have any problems, as of right now. That

being said, he's limiting his intake to 2 sodas a day. I don't buy anything

besides diet coke and extra chewing gum for him that has aspartame in it.

Ultimately it is a personal choice.

This link is an old favorite of mine. Whenever you have a question

regarding an " urban Legend, this is the place to go. This particular

article is perhaps what started the scare about aspartame. Anything done in

excess is dangerous, and I believe that includes internet gossip. Anytime

there is " anecdotal " information, or in other words, " I heard that this is

happening " I get suspicious. I sure hope this helps

I know of one class action suit being prepared - it's a pretty large one -

several folks who feel aspartame has caused physical problems in them are

part of the class.

Anyone can have a food allergy, but that does not mean EVERYONE has

that food allergy. That seems to be something some people don't

understand. Nectarines cause my lips to itch, but that doesn't mean

someone else can't enjoy a nectarine without itchy lips. You simply

have to be aware of your body's reaction to things and police

yourself, not others. Most of the problems people have with

sensitivity to aspartame is probably due to food allergies.

I actually think that's a pretty good rule. I was on another board where a

woman got VERY nasty because I found something that conflicted with another

thing she posted. She wanted to be the only one who was right (...and I can

relate to that since I can be kind of controlling) and didn't want to see

any counter-arguments.

I don't happen to have a problem with aspartame, however I prefer to use

Splenda if it is available. Food sensitivities are VERY real, though, and if

a person has even a twinge of problems they need to listen to their body and

not eat that food.
