Here, here!!! I absolutely agree with you 110%!!! I remember when I

asked our local orthoped (not a Ponseti grad, btw) what the 'next

step' was after the tenotomy cast came off (knowing full well that it

was the FAB full time for 3 months) and he suggesting that no further

treatment was necessary following casting. WHAT?! I then asked

about the FAB and he said " we don't that here " . I told him that in

my research I'd learned that it was a fundamental part of the

treatment to prevent relapses and that I was fully prepared to use it

and would he have any problem providing me with one or at least

writing the RX so that I could get it? The provided me with the

first one - an old archaic one with reverse last shoes that they must

have pulled out of storage - and then I ordered a paid for a new one

so that I would have it to keep. Even then, because they weren't

accustomed to prescribing the FAB, they didn't set it up properly at

the correct angles...I fiddled with it myself after we got home.

A few months later after the 3 month fulltime FAB use, I ended up

taking Owen to a Ponseti approved doctor to treat a 'relapse' (more

accurately in my opinion, it was to 'complete' the initial

correction) and his FAB was further adjusted by that doctor's

orthotist.

Now, over a year later, our original orthopod, whom we see for follow-

ups, is prescribing the FAB and providing them for his patients. I'm

not sure what length of time he suggests to his patients but I'm

encouraged by the fact that he at least now prescribes. I will keep

Owen in the FAB for whatever length of time Dr. Ponseti suggests

regardless of what our local orthopod suggests.
