Guest guest
And you're right about school too. Because of calculators, my kids can't do math. And because of computers & spell check, they can't spell. Well, it's not that bad, but it's getting worse for people with younger kids. -------------- On that note, have you ever wondered why they came up with the scanning registers at stores - just run the item's bar code past the scanner? Most people think it is for inventory management. Don't get me wrong, it is used for that and does a superb job of it. But that is NOT why it was originally developed. It was developed because most large stores pay the absolute minimum wage (and less if they could get away with it) and they were having far too much trouble with the hired help not being able to figure out how to make the correct change. When you factor in the extremely small margins (especially at grocery stores), the error rates were killing their profits. I know this is the situation because it was one of the case studies when I got my first MBA.
Guest guest
Oh, don't get me started again on the schools! Do no harm No kid left behind yea, right. Funny though, how the Hippocratic oath is hypocritical. And, how cynical I have become.
