Guest guest
If you want to do this as savely as possible, you need to give ALA every 3 hours (possibly stretch to every 4 hours during the night). The dose Andy recommends would be between 5 mg and 20 mg for a child of this weight. I would start at the lower end and work up to the dose your son does best on. Dagmar. [ ] Dana ??? ALA question We want to start ALA every 8 hours 4 days on and 3 off. Matt are sons weighs 42 lbs. we were thinking of starting at 40mg ALA every 8 hours Is this too much or too little to start with? --------------Matt's DAD --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ------- This email contains confidential, privileged information intended only for the addressee. Guest guest
We want to avoid the ala dmsa andy protocol and not have to wake him up throughout the night. That why we are trying the 8 hour schedule and I am guessing that you double the dose from the 3-4 hour schedule. I did it this way, except 3 on and 4 off, or many times 6 on and 8 off. >> Matt are sons > weighs 42 lbs. we were thinking of starting at 40mg ALA every 8 hours > Is this too much or too little to start with? My son was about 50 pounds when I started. I started with 25 mg every 8 hours, and worked up from there. Dana
Guest guest
Dear Judy, This is scary to me. Think about it. If a doctor recommended antibiotics every four hours, would you give them every 8? No, because they wouldn't work as well. The reason for the 3-4 hour schedule is not dosing, but keeping the level of the chelator consistent so it moves the metals out of the body instead of just moving them from one tissue (liver, brain) to another (liver, brain). We avoided chelation for a long time because we were hearing scary stories about kids REALLY regressing and having bad side effects. I have researched and researched, and Andy and others feel that the 8 hour schedule is dangerous because you get the metals moving, but they don't make it out of the body. PLEASE research this and understand it before you do an 8 hour schedule. You might find a copy of Andy's book Amalgam Illness in your library. Or ask others here about it. Or, if you are working with a doc who is recommending an 8 hour schedule, I would ask the doc what kind of results he is seeing with others with this protocol. Personally, if waking my son up in the middle of the night was so bad for him or me that I had to choose a dangerous schedule, I would rather not chelate at all. Just my opinion. I wish you the very best in whatever you decide. , and 's mommy [ ] Dana ??? ALA question > > > We want to start ALA every 8 hours 4 days on and 3 off. Guest guest
Judy, I second what others have said about sticking with the every 4 hour protocol. One option which I am sure Andy won't approve of is to try transdermal ALA so that you wouldn't have to wake your child up. I know he has concerns about absorption, etc, but it would certainly be better than every 8. This is of course if you use ALA only. I had your same concerns, but I can tell you, my son really doesn't even wake up when I dose him and only rarely has opened his eyes. I guess he got used to it...Kim > >If you want to do this as savely as possible, you need to give ALA every 3 > >hours (possibly stretch to every 4 hours during the night).
