How's it going there today, Miss a? Are you getting back on track? I am

taking this weekend to make out a plan, go to the store and get my head on

straight and my act together! Wanna join me?

Well, first you have to throw all that junk out, you know. But I am going to

make a menu plan for the week, and then a shopping list, so that I can make

sure I have everything I need. I am not going out for New Year's Eve, since I

have to work all day MOnday, so I am starting on Monday. Why don't we make up

some menus for the coming week together?

The salad is just greens with red grapes cut in halves and warmed goat

cheese. I warm the goat cheese in the microwave and then " dot " it on the

salad. This salad needs a light dressing like a vinaigrette. Grilled

portablella mushrooms would also be good in this salad.

I don't have the exact recipe for the cornish hen marinade. I followed a

recipe on the packaging that the hens came in. The next time I buy them I

will send in the recipe.

I'm sorry you had a bad day yesterday. I hope today is better.

Beth

Beth,

can you give us actual recipes for the cornish hens and the

salad that you are addicted to?

thanks

Hi a,

Lunatic is right name for me. That's how I feel anyway.

It seems that I am feeding on information lately. I have always been like this,

but after BC, it has been worse! And I try to distance myself from finding more

and more info and I just can't! Must be something to do with having a background

on research increased 20 fold by my own neurosis.

Lastest on my research craziness. I was trying to find if there is a connection

between tamox and weight gain. As the studies go, not much relation, but I found

that chemo plus lack of exercise sure do have a part on it. Women undergoing

chemo tend to gain more fat mass and loose muscle mass. All of us know it

happens. But at least there are scientific articles showing that our bodies

undergo metabolic changes during this period and may last for a while. So, I am

trying to stop being so neurotic about this (since I am about a lot of other

things) and stop making pressure on myself to achieve unrealistic short term

goals. It may take months for my body to respond again. In the meantime, I will

keep going to the gym everyday and pay attention to my diet, but I won't (at

least try not to) expect too much of my body. In time all will find its place...

I keep telling me this all the time.

My periods are not back yet, but I am confident they will get back. It takes a

little while for the ovaries to work again after Zoladex and chemo. I have

schedule an IUD insertion for next week since my choices for contraceptive are

very limited now. We will see how it works.

I am still dealing with this fertility issue, but I feel better. I am trying to

be more positive about it and since I found the hope I had lost, I guess I will

get better with time and accept those limitations. It doesn't mean at all that I

am giving up on maternity, but that I am working towards feeling nbetter and not

miserable all the time.

I had the same problem as you did with negligence. The doctor I saw about the

pain in my breast told me it was normal and that I shouldn't worry. My nodule

couldn't be felt, it was too deep, so he assumed it was all ok. I do not have

words to describe what I think about this guy. For a while I thought it was all

my fault for not looking for another doctor. But how could I know? And the pain

was so sporadic that I believed him. I only found out about the cancer 10 months

later.

Anyway, shoulda, woulda attitudes are a waste of time, right? so I don't dwell

on them anymore (except on my peaks of depression).

On dancing, I never did tap dancing but I used to dance Flamenco. My feet now

hurt too much but I am counting on them getting better for next year and I will

get back to it. I love flamenco!

And I have already told my husband that we will learn Tango together.

Long long email, but it also ended on a bright note!

Hugs

Hi All,

New to group and here is my saga. Found a lump end of August. Had

my first mammogram at the age of 39 on Sept.8th. Had my first dog

get really sick on Sept.12th he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor

on his heart wall the next day he was only 10. We did a procedure to

buy him some more time but were told it could be 3 days to 3 months.

Had my biopsy done on Sept.18th. Still wasnt too concerned as my

obgyn was pretty sure it was fibrous tissue and I was more concerned

about the dog. My dog took a turn for the worse that night and we

had to have him put down on the 19th,, and the 21st my obgyn called

with the " I wish I had better news " statement. He rushed me to a

surgeon and I had my first surgery Oct.3rd and then onto the

oncologist. Few days later I was called and told that my margins

were clear but not wide enough and that my suspected 1.5cm tumor

came out as 2.8. and two positive lymph nodes and hormone negative.

So the second surgery was set for Oct.20th,, went back to the

surgeon on Oct. 28th thinking I was just having the incision

checked. Well thats when she told me that the second surgery cut

back further and revealed 4 more mini-tumors not even large enough

to be detected by mammogram or ultrasound. So now she is

recommending a mastectomy and the cancer gene test.

Oncologist is also recommending the test to decide if i should have

a double masectomy and/or my ovaries removed. I have no children and

was giving myself at least 1 more year to decide if I wanted them or

not. Perhaps this is my answer, especially since the 8 treatments of

chemo they are recommending has the chance of forcing my system into

early menopause. Everything has happened so fast. My life has been

turned upside down in the matter of 6 weeks and I don't even know

what to grieve or cry for. I also own my own business and am

concerned how I am going to continue that while I am undergoing

treatments, can' t afford to close the doors. My doctors have me on

anti-depressants, but some days,,, it doesn't seem to be enough.

Sorry this is so long, just seems like I have this black cloud

hanging over my head and I don't know when it will blow away.

Good thoughts to the rest who are going through this horrendous

ordeal.
