Guest guest
I had my resurfaced hip revised to a large-head THR eight weeks ago. I just had my first post-op X-rays taken, and it was a little shocking to see how much metal I know have in me. My doctor also released me to start swimming again, and I noticed a change when I got into the water these past few days. Before either surgery I would swim 1/2 mile each day, so I'm a fairly accomplished swimmer. I breathe every third stroke, so I take in air on each side. I notice that I keep gulping in water when I take a breath on my right side (same side as my THR), and I'm starting to think I've become less buoyant since I receive my THR, especially on the right side. It's kind of like swimming with a lead weight in your pocket. Maybe my newfound ballast should make me consider taking up scuba diving instead. ph K.
