Dr. McCandless gives test recommendations in her book http://www.autism-rxguidebook.net/DesktopDefault.aspx For measles virus, a common symptom [altho not universal] is visual stims that don't go away even with cod liver oil. OCD is commonly associated with virus/es. For my son, 80+ rounds of chelation still left certain problems, so I decided to pursue virus issues. If his body doesn't properly fight pathogens, you won't see typical signs of illness even when his body is facing one. Have you had an immune panel run on him? This could be really telling. It can be done by most labs. The doc just asks for an " Immune Panel with lymphocyte subsets CD4, CD8 and NK cells. " <<So, I guess my question is...is there a list of what our kids would exhibit if they had a viral issue as opposed to a yeast issue?>> According to the doc we work with, the two almost always go together. I'm not sure I agree with this since we haven't seen a strong yeast connection with my son but he says that when natural killer cells are low, which they usually are with a viral involvement, then yeast tend to take over. He almost always treats both until the body is strong enough to mount a good defense on its own. <<is there a urine/blood type test to confirm if viral is what the main cause of symptoms?>> You can run a viral panel through Immunosciences or Immunodiagnostics labs BUT low viral titers don't necessarily rule out a viral problem. The body needs to be able to at least mount some sort of an attack against the virus for it to show up in titers. If it's not able to, the virus just takes over but titers don't rise. Many kids' titers rise, before lowering, several months into antiviral treatment when their bodies are able to kick in some defenses. Guest guest
Gaylen, Craig had the Fudenburg panel done years ago but we never knew who could look at it for us. Would your doc be able to help? What kind of substances are your kids taking for this? (I've heard Olive Leaf, Valtrex, acyclovir etc.) Also, how do you know if your child is just positive for some viruses, but not manifesting any symptoms? His specialty is balance/inner ear problems but he's branched out to working with autistic kids because he's seen a relation between their difficulties and the vestibular/balance issues of his other patients. << What kind of substances are your kids taking for this? >> He's currently taking Valtrex and Lauricidin to treat viral issues. He's also taking Paxil for it's immune effects and effect on the temporal lobe, which the doc says is the lobe most affected by the viruses he treats. <<Also, how do you know if your child is just positive for some viruses, but not manifesting any symptoms?>> Sorry, I don't know the answer to that.
