Guest guest
Caro, I don't know the answer to your question but maybe Betty Cammack can be of assistance, since her son's autopsy came back positive for VEDS. That is what she posted yesterday. Best Wishes and Hugs! Sincerely, S. Need EDS skin test after fact ... Autopsy > Hi all, > > I wonder, can the doctors doing an autopsy do a skin test. Guest guest
Caro My son had an autopsy done just after he died and his DNA was sent to Seattle in November so that was about 6 months after the autopsy. They did use a tissue sample from the liver. As long as something is saved they can use it and as has posted he did test positive for VEDS. Hope this helps. Betty Need EDS skin test after fact ... Guest guest
Caro, Yes, it is possible to have the skin cells collected during the autopsy. This was done when my uncle died unexpectedly during heart by-pass surgery. The cells were sent to Dr. Byers and it was confirmed that he did have vascular EDS (or then it was called type IV.) Hope this helps . kindest regards, Joyce At 06:48 PM 07/04/2004, you wrote: >Hi all, > >I wonder, can the doctors doing an autopsy do a skin test. Seems to me its >our last chance. Guest guest
I don't know why they couldn't, but I do know the cells need to be grown for quite some time. And grown in a certain fashion. You would want the doctor to contact the guy in Seattle to see exactly what procedure to use. Love Lana Need EDS skin test after fact ... Autopsy Hi all, I wonder, can the doctors doing an autopsy do a skin test. Seems to me its our last chance. I can just see the SSD and VA pension people asking me questions. I will only know what is in the final records. A few of his doctors are looking back at how Bill did not express his pain normally. It seems, IMHO perhaps the opposite of the pain meds that did not work on him. If you have pain all of the time and cannot explain it ... who knows, you give up. If it was EDS that caused him not to express himself that skin test would help. Or, I am aware it could be too late for that. Reason for all of this is Bill's Military pension is still pending. With him having brain cancer that is reason he could not complete the application forms. Also, many of his old medical records seem to show he had pain, or was super sensitive to pain with the doctors dismissing him. Bill once said to me he gave up because no one believed him. Guest guest
Dr. Byers in Seattle does the testing - I couldn't remember his name, and just after I hit send, it came to me - of course! Love Lana
Guest guest
Well with all I learned about EDS symptoms, his Mom has more than Bill did. So in the end, she can be tested. Caro
