My 4 year old who has much smaller feet than his brother is wearing a 10-1/2 now. He just turned 4. Wore a 9-1/2 or 10 his whole 3rd year (depending on the shoe). His big brother, in contrast wore a 9 at 2 IIRC. Yes, he does have big feet. Wearing a 3 at not quite 6 right now. So the boys are going to need even larger shoes to make it to 4 or 5. Now a CF baby might have smaller feet, but Darbi is kind of following in Merek's footsteps with average to large feet. She's wearing a 4 now at 13mo. Her Markell shoes are too small 2's right now. Some children are going to be larger. The masses now doing this will bring more of these babies/children out needing different equipment. >Anyway, what would you do if you were me? I dunno, print some stuff off for him? Email Dr. Ponseti? Maybe change her sleeping arrangement? Is there something at night that particularly bothers her? Is it tangling? That seems to me to be the worst part sleeping like that. I'd go nuts. Kori Mama of Kenton - 6/98 Merek - 3/00 Darbi - 3/28/03 - Rt. Guest guest
Joanne We had to get a larger pair of shoes. wore his until he was three and three months. He is now three months with out his shoes and I am wondering if we should have gotten another pair of shoes. He had very severe bcf. The sleeping thing was bad for us too. Hang in there. I work full time and to not get sleep stunk. My friends who had kids without the FAB would tell me all kinds of things to do, but they really didn't know. It wasn't the same. What finally worked for us was to bring him to bed with us. I got sleep and so did . Dad was not thrilled especially when he would get kicked. Ouch! I would tell myself that is was only for a short period and that seemed to help. Hang in there you are almost at the finish line! Tonya and San Diego, CA bcf Should the shoes stay or go? I just e-mailed Dr. Herzenberg to ask him to clarify his recommendations about when to discontinue the FAB. We had a checkup a month before Zoe's third birthday in March. At that time, he said if she wasn't tolerating the FAB or if the size 8 shoes became too small, we could stop using it and to come back in 6 MONTHS! I've asked if we could come back sooner... Well, my husband is ready to pitch the FAB. I've been holding on for dear life. (I made the mistake of telling him that she should probably wear them until she's four... Joanne W. mom to Zoe (3-25-01, right clubfoot) PS I would DEFINITELY not discontinue using the FAB before 3 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________________________________________________________ Check out the coupons and bargains on MSN Offers! http://youroffers.msn.com

Guest guest
Joanne et al. There are bars longer than 14 inches. The red bar (non-adjustable), comes in 16 " and 18 " lengths. In addition, I could probably have longer gold bars made, if and when the demand warrants it. As for the heel seperation. I don't think the distance from center of heel to center of heel will be any shorter going from size 8 to size 9. The additional length will extend forward toward the toes, not at the back end. Hope this helps! Jay M.
