Guest guest
Well, it finally happened. I met a mom whose child is the same age as Zoe and had surgery on his clubfeet, performed by Zoe's first doctor, no less. I was doing a presentation to my local MOMS group about the Ponseti method and the Pieces of the World project to raise funds for Dr. Pirani's clubfoot clinics in India (www.wilkinswebsites.com/AlphabetMats.php). Luckily, the mom in question spoke to me AFTER the presentation, not during it! I know other people on this list had briefly mentioned how parents who weren't aware of the Ponseti method and whose children went the surgery route have a difficult time comprehending what you're saying when you talk about a non-surgical approach. I'm so glad I had a " heads up " , so when she kept insisting that surgery was the only option for her child, I just bit my tongue. He has other health issues, so I figured she had enough stress and guilt to deal with without me adding to her load. I'm learning... Just wanted to share a difficult moment that no one else but you all would understand...
