I believe I gave you the best one Rhea, in North York. She's really the

only one I'd trust.

ATTN Plz! Names of the best geneticists and rheumys in

Ontario

Hi There everyone,

Well I'm on the hunt now! Just got back from my great GP. He'll

refer me to any geneticist and any rheumatologist of my choice to get

H-EDS either ruled in or at the very least get HMS officially

diagnosed.

So, I need the names of the most knowledgeable geneticists in

Ontario. We live in Pembroke (1.5 hours from Ottawa, 5 hrs from

Toronto) and are willing to travel to London, Toronto, North York,

Ottawa, Kingston etc, etc, etc as long as the geneticist we'll be

seeing is knowledgeable about ehlers danlos syndrome AND

hypermobility syndrome. I want to get this pegged down either way

once and for all. Ditto for the rheumatologist! (One who is

knowledgeable and experienced with EDS AND hypermobility syndrome

please.) Who are the leading specialists in this disorder in

Ontario? Canada?

Any reccomendations for good geneticists and rheumys in Ontario would

be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks so much gang!

Thanks Bernie!!!

The doctor I'm after in North York is Dr. Meschino from the

Genetics department of North York General Hospital. I have talked to

a friend who got her EDS diagnosed by that DR., and I've heard

another positive thing about her from another EDSer. I " m going in

with my HMS topical review by the ARC which also outlines the new

diagnostic criteria for HMS which I more than exceed and at the very

least won't leave that building until I at least have HMS as a

diagnosis.

As for joint issues, I've got subluxing and sometimes dislocating

shoulder and hip joints. I have a lot of hyper extending joints

(elbows, fingers and finger tips etc...) I'm going in 'heavily armed'

with a file of research and family history and personal health

history. I'll let you know how I make out! I sure know what you

mean about drs in Ontario...PHEW. Rest assured that's why I'm not

going to 'just anyone' to get this thing nailed down. Grrr...

Send me an email if you'd like to swiftygal_2000 @ yahoo.com (take

out the space before and after the " @ " ) and I'll hit the reply button

and send you the contact numbers of my physiotherapist and my GP

here. I tried emailing you off list but your email wouldn't work for

me, so maybe if you do it this way I can get the numbers too you :-)

Take care and thanks Bernie :-D

Kingston would be really great Jill! Not nearly as horrible a drive

as Toronto. If you could pass the name on to me of a Kingston Rheumy

that would be wonderfu.

Thank you so much for sending the contact # of the NOrth York

Geneticist! I'll get it all phoned into my doctors office tomorow.

Thanks Jill!
