Guest guest
got another call from the principal today about what a great job he's doing at learning his multiplication tables....prompted by his regular ed teacher no less! I talked to the Resource Room teacher today and she said that in the last month he hasn't been coming down there to do his work because of refusing to do it in the classroom either! She did say he shut down yesterday and put his head down and immediately fell asleep. She let him nap a little, then they took him outside for a bit. She gets it that he will have off days now and then and that if he shuts down, there's a reason and that he's not being difficult! She said his regular ed teacher gets it now too!! She wanted to remove him from some type of music test the other day because he was stressing immediately (picking at his arms, lips, etc.) and we are both in agreement that when it's something that just isn't important and he reacts like that he can be removed from it. They also have a new Basic Classroom in his school and a new autistic child. The new social worker for that classroom read a book about a child with severe autism to 's class (he was with his regular social workder at the time) and then explained that also had a type of autism but was on a higher end than the boy in the story. When they were asked if they had any questions, she said a lot of questions were asked about different things has done in school. Hopefully they will be more understanding when his 'differentness' gets in the way when he's trying to be friendly. :-) Sue
Guest guest
Sue, That is wonderful. I'm glad to hear that the tried to explain everything to the rest of the class. It will make a diffrence. I'm glad they are also picking up on his cues when something is wrong. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
