Guest guest
Well, sounds to me like... There is a bleeding problem. The Petechiae are little red blood like spots that appear on the skin. Striae distensae, Striae are stretch marks, I don't know what distensae is. I read on another site that they have extremely soft skin, thin skin and very stretchy. I couldn't understand much of it either. Cindylouwho From: To: ceda Sent: Thursday, March 11, 2004 9:25 PM Subject: Re: Type X?!? Guest guest
> This further suggests the dr mixed up the types in his head, because It wouldn't be the first time this has happened. I am going to try to look up some info on type X for you later today if I have a chance. I am really not familiar with this, other than it is no longer considered part of the current EDS nosology and was only described in one family (Arneson et al, 1980, Steinmann et al 1993). Your best starting point would be to look up these two authors and years, if you can. My personal suspicion is your doc was using outdated data, but I could be wrong. Okay, gonna go make some coffee and see if I can shake the fuzziness outta my head. TGIF -Barb
Guest guest
Re: Type X?!? At least I now know for sure that I have some type of EDS and I'm not a hypochondriac like some people have suggested (and I can feel like an official member of the group now). Hi . My daughter and I have EDS but we have symptoms from several types so we are called a variant of EDS. I have mitral valve prolapse, some hypermobility of the joints but not the to extent of a true HEDS type, easy bruising, skin tears, flat feet, depressed sternum, kyphosis and lordosis....plus a lot of other things too that are from EDS....
