Question - do you use a box springs with it?

We went with the extra firm mattress 30 years ago (and no reqrets

about that decision at all). More importantly, about the same time,

we dumped the box springs and went for the solid plywood or particle

board underneath the mattress. I think getting rid of the box

springs has had more of a long-term, beneficial effect than just the

extra firm mattress by itself.

One that I have heard good reports about is the Tempurpedic. It

supposedly gives good, solid support while molding to the body so

you don't get painful areas like the hip. I have not tried one

personally so can't comment from experience. All I can say is the

favorable comments I have heard (other than TV commercials) came

from either classmates or instructors in different classes with

experience with it. They aren't cheap - but then again, neither is

$1700 that seems to be busting you up.

Consider either dumping the box springs altogether and replacing

with a hard surface under structure. Or, to test it out, get some

quarter inch plywood and put it between the mattress and box springs

and see how that works for you.

I personally recommend plywood over particle board (even though

particle board is a lot cheaper) because particle

board " outgasses. " I think it is formaldahyde but can't remember

for sure. At any rate, I would not want particle board in the

bedroom where I would be breathing that in all night long.

Hi ,

We bought a Select Comfort air bed....for the last 3 years I used a

memory foam 4 inch pad before buying this air bed. It is the best I have

slept in years. It wasn't cheap, but is waranteed for 20 years with 100%

replacement. My husband and I researched it for a long time and decided to

try it. We have had it for about 9 weeks now and some nights I have slept

straight through. I keep it very soft yet can get out of the bed easily. If

you want some more information about which style, please email me directly.

I know what you mean about spending a lot-we had bought a Restonic a few

years ago-it was a NIGHTMARE!

Hope this info is helpful!
