Guest guest
My 16 month old hasn't been diagnosed yet but I am certain he will be soon. His first Occupational Therapist appointment is Wednesday. The therapist is with the state's " Early Intervention " program. I am very concerned about my sons latest stim/stib " hand biting " and walking with his eyes closed. Can anyone shed some light on how to distract, reduce the amount or slowly phase out the behavior. I know it's importatn for me to first find what might be causing the behavior but if anyone has experience with this I'd appreciate you sharing your stories. New to this overwhelming world of ASD but starving for others experience in an effort to get some direction. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Not to overwhelm you, but there are certain biochemical disorders that show up with hand biting as a symptom. Some of them are treatable with vitamins. I don't recall which soecific ones-there are too many, but I'm sure if you type hand biting and autism into a web browser, you will get some hits. I hope you get the support you need here [ ] Re: Hand Biting and Walking with Eyes Closed > my 2yr 9mth son also hand bite when he feel frustrate. we recently > give me something he likes/obesses - drinking straw. > > he would stop crying and starting chewing the straw. > > not sure it is good or not but at least stops him from biting his > hand. > > graham > > > > > > My 16 month old hasn't been diagnosed yet but I am certain he will > be > > soon. Hand biting can be a number of things: phenol intolerance, other food intolerance, yeast issues, too much vitamin B, a few other things. Walking with eyes closed can be yeast, vitamin A deficiency, and a few other things. What happened immediately before he started doing these things? Did you add or remove anything?
