Hey Mark -

Was it you who said that you are composing?

I think that must be the hardest thing to do.

I tried to just write some music to play on my flute years ago, and couldn't.

Do you play any instruments? I played the flute, and can't do it any more

because it hurts too much. I was also learning to play the guitar, and I was

getting pretty good, but, that hurt too much too.

It really bums me out, cause I loved it. I wanted to learn the guitar all my

life.

My brother is an amazing musician. He plays just about every instrument you can

name. He mainly plays older ones - like recorders and the concertina. He

started with the clarinet, then got into the medieval music. He always wanted

to play his clarinet in jazz bands, but the high school band director wouldn't

let him, cause he didn't have any music that included a clarinet. It really

stifled his creativity.

He's been in many bands, and a few years ago, they played for the Dali Lama when

he came to Seattle. His wife plays the hurdy gurdy. What an honor that was!

I think that not being able to play music is probably the biggest dissapointment

I have from having EDS.

Nothing is more freeing to the soul than playing music.

Now, I just settle for listening to my son play his bass. He taught himself,

and just blows me away with his talent. He's been writing some music, which I

am amazed with.

Are you composing for a full orchestra? Or, just what, exactly?

I hope that gives you some peace. I'm almost in tears thinking how wonderfully

rewarding that talent would be. And for the loss of my ability to play.

How awful. Any chance you can call the manager of the pharmacy and

request them?
