Dear . . . Yes, the laws prohibiting stem cell usage are governed

by the need for votes and not the need for health issues. Sounds crass

but it's true. You're right, cord blood should always be saved. This

will happen in the future. But when? Times will have to change but in

the meantime many people will die waiting for organs, cancer patients

waiting for spinal treatments, and, I suspect, lupus patients will

benefit from these marvelous materials and procedures too. Especially

those with organ involvement but there will no doubt be help for all

auto-immune problems once the techniques are allowed to be studied and

used. Unfortunately rigid beliefs die slowly. I've been told a slice

of tissue as small as a fingernail can be implanted into a failing organ

and the organ will begin to regenerate. In this country pig cells and

tissue are allowed to be studied but they are a poor substitute for

human tissue.

I got a kick out of your " Electric Co. " boo-boo. It reminded me of a

time when I ordered a mattress from a dept store. It hadn't arrived

when I thought it should so I called the store to ask about the

delivery. The very nice lady I spoke to broke her neck trying to find

the order which had somehow disappeared. I got hotter and hotter and

was really reading her out when all of a sudden I realized I had called

the wrong store. But in those days I didn't have the courage to admit

my mistake so I just hung up. Poor woman! I bet I really made her day.

Talk about losing patience with the nearest warm body!

Glad you got your computer woes fixed. Love, C.
