Guest guest
I live in the city but we do have a camp down one of the bayous in South louisiana... I love the bayou country...I went down there this morning for a crab boil...nothing like boiled crabs for breakfast...seeing the seagulls dive for their food and an occasional pelican...seeing the shrimp boats as they pull their po=pierre nets at nite for shrimp...and feeling the cool sea breeze...the bayou country is very unique. i do not go down there much...cause of the heat and the sun, but it is a unique place. i stopped by a house today, along the bayou. There was a sign out there that said home grown tomatoes...all the tomatoes were on a table outside with a money box on the side...and a scale...I knocked on the door for assistance and this little ole cajun lady came outside...i told her what I wanted and she said, mey sha just put dem in dat bag and put da money in dat box...i told her that where i lived, in the city, the tomatoes would have been stolen by now......she said that she would rather give things to people instead of them having to steal...Trust is still very prevalent down the bayou...she told me to put two extra tomotoes in the bag... I went further down the bayou and saw a sign saying cucumbers...bags and a box to put the money in...how do these people know that we are paying for the items....how do they know if we are not taking more than allowed for the price...i was amazed ...of course I took only what I bought...I am very honest...this would never happen in the city.. i do not think i would like to live in any other part of the country...I have the best of both worlds here...the city conviences and the country hospitality and trust...go figure...chippy
