(On the other hand, I don't know how many use the " delete before reading " button.) And , then responded back with: You are 110% right, but I'm not sure what you mean by " pulling your plug " (perhaps we can discuss that offline) BUT, I probably should have taken the opportunity to describe the different pulses & their significance, right then & there. But I had just arrived back from NYC, had met a new surgeon, decided to not only undergo the entire ankle fusion all over again, but was pretty depressed & rather angry about the entire last years events (concerning my ankle & related issues), that I was actually crying at the time I was writing that email. But I should have " pulled myself up " & truly explained what I knew about it all. I was simply so exhausted, that I guess I took the momentary, easy way out & kept it pretty simple. I should have taken the opportunity to further educate whomever I could, on the subject of Tuina. And, you are probably right again, as there has likely been more usage of " delete " button now, than ever before, likely due to several reasons. The least of which is that, compared to a year ago, or 5 years ago or believe it or not, 10 years ago, there has been an extraordinary increase of emails on CEDA. And unless someone literally spent 5-10 hours a day, or more & had few other responsibilities in life & just spent their " productive " time, reading all of the emails, it is truly difficult to keep up with everything. I'm surely not making excuses for anyone, but I'm sure there are more emails that I've spent 2 hours responding to, with all of my heart & soul, that were deleted by 99% of the people on CEDA, within 3 minutes of them being noticed by any individual. It's hard to cope with it when you respond in depth, to the same issue over & over & over again & then 2 weeks later, it's asked anew. But it is something that I've had to decide to deal with. I went through stages of feeling hurt, frustration, like I was wasting my time & many more emotions. I finally learned to deal with some of it by compiling a " group " of general responses to a number of issues & then reusing them, but tailoring them to each situation, at hand. I'll only use one issue for an example here: If the EDNF had a nickel for every time I've been asked to respond, either on CEDA, ednf.org, really by any type of email, including direct emails or by phone or snail mail, about the issue of joint replacements, we'd have a balance in L.A., in the millions. I'm sure that' not what you wanted to hear, but I'm sure by now you've realized ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ wrote: Believe it or not, against my will, he gave me the shot... Mike answered with back: (2) Yes, I would. Nothing surprises me anymore. And , then responded back with: And likewise, neither would anything surprise me. However I was apparently fooled by the morals that I believe, a the time, that this particular physician had. At least I know better know & have made the switch to a different surgeon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ wrote: & will have to have the entire fusion redone, more complicated this time. And, I will have to delay it until after the conference, as I don't have enough time to heal properly pre-conference... Mike answered with back: (3) I want a shot at your ankle in Buffalo, to see if there is anything I can do to help with your short-term pain levels. And , then responded back with OH MIKE, you've got it! Your request is more than granted. (Just make sure it's not a " shot " in a syringe, filled with lidocaine or procaine or any of the " caines " for that fact.) I can, as you probably can guess & would know, that with my own arsenal of alternative therapies I can deal with it & is, in fact, one of the main reasons that I didn't hesitate to delay the surgery, particularly when I was assured that I could do no further damage to my ankle by waiting until the end of July, if I wore the AFO & used my electric wheelchair & cancelled my Tap Dance routine......OOOps Just wanted to make sure you were still paying attention.... LOL LOL, which I am quite sure you are, but I couldn't resist. Please accept my apologies.......... Back to reality, so with my own techniques & the poison, AKA known as narcotics, that I've been dumping down my throat over the last 10-12 years, I was & am able to go up to Buffalo early & help out, but will be more than be happy to have you work your magic & have you further reduce the pain. BUT, what I'd really like is to meet up with you Post Op. That's when I'll really have to be concentrating........ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ wrote: I only stopped the Tuina, because…it became very, very expensive, when he suddenly left my rheumatologist…& wasn't insurance covered.. Mike answered with back: (4) That's a major problem with a lot of the alternative approaches. They either are not covered by insurance at all, or if they are selectively covered, you can't find a primary health care provider who will write the prescription for it. Not only that, how in the world would I code some of the stuff I do? " Code 375 – pointed finger at problem. " Not apt to get quick reimbursement approval that way. And , then responded back with No doubt a major problem. HUGE! I've managed to get some stuff through, after working within the system for so long, but they are still sooooo far away from reality, it's truly sickening. And no, I don't think there's a DRG # for Tuina! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ wrote: I would like to formally volunteer my pulse, wrist, etc., whatever you need for your study & am fascinated & we simply must find a way for me to assist you in you plans for the conference. Mike answered with back (5) I don't have any formal " game plan " yet for the conference. I have several different personal goals and objectives in mind for attending. One obvious one, like everybody else, is to put a few faces with names. I would like to be able to give some " demos " on some of this stuff to help clarify how it is actually done and to answer questions that people might have. I also think if I can get my hands in " treatment mode " on people, that it will help to tune people in to be able to actually sense the energy themselves for self-help. And I know that there are some with questions about locating specific acupressure points. In addition, I would like to be able to do brief demos on things like lymphatic work so people who might be considering having it done can feel how gentle and non-invasive it actually is. Then there is the issue of some research that I hope to do in terms of Pulse Diagnostics and Visceral Manipulation organ listening correlations. And finally, to just " work on " as many people as I can while there. I know I can use some help with getting every thing scheduled while there. Cindy has also volunteered to help with some of the hands-on stuff that she knows how to do. And , then responded back with Having been to, somewhere in the vicinity of 10 ish conferences, I would surely say that getting to meet a lot of the people with whom you've developed relationships already, will really be an awesome experience & one that I would personally put very high on my list, were it MY first conference. I know from reading your emails that you want to help so many people so much, gain experiences, & I'm quite sure will see the results of you work, which will be incredibly satisfying to you & then hopefully, you will be able to go on to use the information to further your work & that of others. But, I'd strongly encourage you to do a lot of networking with others & attend as many of the seminars as interest you. And I've found that I often learn & share, the most about people, their ways of dealing with EDS, etc., generally during informal, unplanned, spontaneous chats, normally occurring well after 2 AM & usually before 6AM. You never know where & when one will break out. Yet I also strongly expect & hope for both you & others, that you have the opportunity to use all that you have learned to work with others & am sure it will all fall into place. Which, is why I had offered very early on to work with you in some manner & do also recall that there was mention that Cindy had some talents as well, which will be wonderful. I would guess that you will also enjoy meeting & spending some time with Alberto, who has been to several conferences & taught many sessions. He has an energy, all his own & is, in my personal opinion an extraordinary example of how one can achieve amazing things, despite EDS. And, though I'm trained in hypnosis & self hypnosis, as well as massage (though, general, back in the early 70's while in nursiung school), as well as Therapeutic Touch, all of which I studdied for 2 semesters each (along with assorted other techniques), it has been a while & though I'm sure it's like riding a bicycle, I'd surely be willing to assist you, in your endeavors, in whatever way you feel would best facilitate your goals. wrote: I am arriving in Buffalo on Sunday, as I offered, several months ago to help the crowd up in Buffalo, so depending on when you intend to get there, we could plan something then or before & somewhere in between. I will be staying at Sue's house, while we work on conference stuff from the time I arrive on Suday, until I beleive, onTues. when we go to the hotel. So, let's be in touch... Mike answered with back (6) As for when we plan on getting to Buffalo, that is still up in the air. We have a confirmed room reservation starting Wednesday the 14th and running through Sunday the 18th. Pre-conference, the only thing definite is that we look to be in Atlanta Georgia on Saturday the 10th to attend a wedding. Early on when I first started talking about even going to the conference, I had tossed it out to Bonnie to swing by and pick her and up if Ray couldn't get off to go. I had also tossed it out to Cindy to detour through Detroit on the way to Buffalo. Since then, Cindy elected to cash some bonus miles and fly and Bonnie isn't sure yet whether Ray is going to take off and they are going to drive or not, or at least that is what I think I heard my wife say a couple of days ago. So, if we go from Atlanta to Milwaukee to Buffalo, we would arrive in Buffalo sometime on Wednesday the 14th. If we don't go to Milwaukee first, we would arrive in Buffalo sometime on Monday the 12th because it is only 900 miles from Atlanta to Buffalo. I know that you and Aase are both coming in ahead of time to Sue's, plus I have no idea who else might be there early. Find me a place to set up and I could work on/with whoever in the day or two before the conference started. I just need to confirm what Bonnie's plans are going to be first. And , then responded back with Well, I know that Aase Marit will be arriving before me & I will be the Sunday AM & we will both be at Sue's. If anyone else is staying there, other then her daughter Ginny, I really don't know, nor do I know if anyone else is arriving early. I would guess that the Buffalo committe would know that, if anyone does. I know there was mention of others coming in early to help as well, but as of now, I'm not sure that anyone else was able to juggle their schedules enough to make that happne. So I suggest, that I myself will be a guest of Sue's, I surely can't speak for what anyone else is doing & when they are coming & going & where they amy be staying, but I'm sure the " Buffalo crowd will know. I can tell you the Aase Marit is flying back yto NJ with me after the conference for about a week, at which time I will then check in to my " home away from home " , otherwise known ast Beth Israel North Hospital. You are surely welcome to stop by this way afrterwards, if you still have any steam left, as Aase & I do have some plans for some pain old fun. So again, I truly look foreard to hearing from you & let's just be in touch. I can just tell you, unequvically, you are headed for an experiencre of a lifetime. Drive safe, be careful & enjoy your travels. . P.S. I shall spell check, but am so wasted, that I can't proof the rest of the end & hope it all makes sense.................... ----------------- Reply: (1) I figure I have already thrown so much weird stuff at the list, and no one has pulled my plug, that I am just going to keep taking advantage of opportunities as they present themselves to further educate them about some of this.
