Hi Kimi,

I agree with you 100%! I'll take a good ole hurricane over a tornado, earthquake and even a blizzard any time!

I'll tell you what, we have had our share of hurricanes over the years we have lived here, that's for sure. Do you remember Opal? Her eye went right over my house. We weren't here though, we were stuck on I-10 going to Tallahassee. Dumbest thing we ever did! Now that was a learning experience. Do you do anything to prepare for hurricane season? Opal taught us to never ignore the warnings issued. Actually, we were taught that lesson when we lived on Guam and had several typhoons to deal with and I can remember some hurricanes in N.J. where I grew up. Hurricane Hazel comes to mind. She almost took our roof off!

We got some much needed rain the last couple days too. I hope we don't have another drought this year. It don't look good.

Hugs...

Karol

Woohoo we finally got some good rain here yesterday and today I can do with out the thundred and lighting here but it did rain really good here yesterday and today. Yesterday started our first day of hurricane season which will last until Nov. Lucky the hurricanes have been pretty mild for us. Which I know we are due for a very bad one one of these days which i am not looking forward to it thats for sure. But then again I think i can put up with hurricanes instead of earthquakes and really bad tornados we do get some tornados here but not as bad as they get them up on the norhtern western side of the states.

Karol I sure do remember Opal our power went out for a couple of days. the only hurricane we got prepared for was Floyd that was suppose to hit us bad that was a hurricane 5 I think so we boarded up and left the house to go to the other side of florida which is normally a 3 hour drive it took us 8 hours to get there cause everyone left that day and all the damage we got from him was just broken tree limps is all. that one was the first one we left for too.

We've been getting showers every other day, at least. The flowers in my planters drowned, I had to replant them to save them from dying. My tomatoes are not doing too good. They're growing, but you can definitely see that they are getting too much water.

Why is it that there can't be a nice balance.

Hi Kim,

I think you might have Hurricane Opal mixed up with Hurricane . did cross over the Florida peninsula and came here exactly a month before Opal landed. Opal came up from the Bay of Campeachi (sp) way down south near the Yucatan Peninsula. Opal was a cat 5 but dropped down to a cat 3 just before it hit land. I saved our newspapers from those two storms because they caused so much damage to our area. I remember Floyd and how everyone evacuated. Another mess. Didn't you feel dumb being stuck in a car and on the road during a hurricane. Been there, done that! I can tell you it won't happen again! We always lay in hurricane supplies.....it don't hurt to be prepared. By the way, we were without electricity for five days and no water for at least two weeks. FEMA was a big help. They set up tents and served food for the people who's homes were badly damaged or destroyed and brought truckloads of water for us all. Opal was quite an experience.
