Guest guest
Helen, first of all. It takes time for the prednisone puffy effect to wear off. Also, in my case I have never been able to start loosing weight for a few months after getting off prednisone. I'm not saying don't try, just do not get discouraged. I got off prednisone this past January. I was on it for 18 months, starting with 40mg for 6 months and then tapering down. I tried and I tried, but I didn't start loosing weight until about mid April. When I did it was going down pretty quickly. I'm now 13 pounds lighter and have 7 - 10 more to get back to my pre-prednisone weight and to fit into all my clothes. People who have seen me in the beginning of April and now think that I must have lost about 25 pounds, that's the effect when the prednisone weight finally comes off. I don't know much about your knee. I had surgery years ago, but nothing to do with twisting, getting kicked or anything like that. I just know that the foot and the knee are very "capricious" and if you don't take good care of them after some damage, you will feel the effects for a long, long while. I would do what the doctor says and get that MRI as soon as possible to see if there is any further damage. Rest as much as possible, and when it gets a little better maybe you could do some physical therapy. Exercises in water also help, so get in that tub and do very slow movements when the doctor says its ok. Do not force it, you may damage it further. Good luck, I hope your knee gets better soon. Mojo Update and question Hi all. I've been doing pretty well getting over my vacation. Still tapering off prednisone and still puffy. Two more weeks!! Then diet time. Well, my question is re: my "deer" knee. For those of you that didn't catch my post. I was riding with my hubby on the motorcycle and a deer hit us from the side. While we didn't fall over the deer bounced off my husbands foot(he kicked it, to keep it from hitting us) and hit my knee. I can put some weight on it know but when it twist at all, it hurts really, really bad. My doc said that if it didn't get better this week he wants to do another xray and MRI. Gosh, I just don't feel like getting out and doing all of that so I will probably wait until next week to call him back. I've kept it wrapped with an ace bandage most of the time and ice it a few times a day for 15 mins or so. I also have soaked it in water when I take a bath. Does anybody have any more ideas on what I could do or what it might be. Thanks in advance for your input.
