Guest guest
Hi Anjil, dear, dear Anjil... So nice to see you, but not that nice to see that you have another thing to add to your diagnosis list.... Arthropathy is a term which is used a lot. It means " disease in a joint " . It is used a lot re. people with Psoriatic arthritis. They " always " used psoriatic arthropathy (arthropathia psoriatica) as a synonym for psoriatic arthritis. But now they don't, at least not here in Norway. Now at least some rheumatologists say that people with psoriasis gets two kinds of joint problems, psoriatic arthropathy and psoriatic arthritis. Even my medical dictionary says " Arthropathia Psoriatica - Arthritis Psoriatica " - with no mentioning of any difference. But several articles lately has pointed out a difference. A Rheumatologist last weekend also explained a difference: The psoriatic arthropathy does give joint pain, stiffness etc. as with the arthritis, but not the joint swelling, redness and destruction that the arthritis does give. So if that is correct, you can sort of call the arthropathy a " light version " of the arthritis, as it gives much of the same problems, but not the destruction which gives it's own set of problems. I think it is really funny though, because I have never seen this way of differing between the two before... But in general arthropathy is used a lot, and from a quick search about psoriatic arthropathy, it is used as another word for psoriatic arthritis. So I guess you no matter what at least can say that it is a joint problem/disease in the same category as arthritis. Then there is obviously a lot of different types of arthropathies. E.g. Ankylosing Spondilitis, that is also a type of arthropathy, together with psoriatic arthritis a member of the Spondyloarthropathies... USC is that for University of Southern California? I am just using my fantasy now, I really have no clue... If you are going to the rheumatology dept. there, I hope that they can explain in detail what kind of arthropathy they think you have, and what that really means... You have to give us a full report when you've been there... Is it arthropathy of your spine/neck they are talking about? You'll really be missed at the conference, that is for sure.... But there's always another time too!!!! I hope you'll feel better next year than you do right now. Maybe if they can figure out more, they can do something about it.... Good luck there, I will be sending lots of positive waves your way and hope that your trip will be a good one!!!! And that lots of good things will come out of it so that things can be easier for you soon!!!! hugs, Aase Marit >has anyone ever had arthopathy or heard of it? it's what i've been bothered >with for quite a long time now & why i'm going to USC next tuesday. i finally >found a motel room after trying several places. USC sent me a list & i kept >trying & finally called the first place on the list (it was the cheapest, so i >avoided it, thinking it would be awful), the reservation gal was ever so >sweet & told me it's a very nice place & we won't have to hit the >fwy to get to >USC, it's a 7 mile drive! how perfect is that! i always get very stressed >being in LA, hoping we'll be on time & won't get lost. but the way >she explained >it, it'll be perfect & only $65. can you beat that? we'll drive down monday >night around 6pm for our tues 9am appt w/dr aarkfeld, a rheumie. wish us >luck. i talked sweetie into taking me cuz i kept getting all these >warnings from >people, be careful, USC is in the worst part of LA, etc. now i feel safe, >being w/him. he's me hercules, hulk & HeMan, spiderman...all rolled into one! > >i wish everyone a good week, easy on the pain, heavy on the joy & know i'll >be praying for you all. that's what i do. we are still seeking out a mobile >home to buy (these stairs are a _itch for my knees, plus we can get over >$500,000 for this place & pay under $250,000 for a mobile home. the >space rent is >around $300. that's what i'm talking about. yeah!! > >gotta go. take care everyone. have fun at the conference without me. i am >sad i cannot go but there is no way i could ride on a plane the way my body is >right now. & i don't foresee it being any different in a couple of months. >maybe next yr! > >love & anjil hugs () : ) >jily > > >
