Guest guest
Yes, it is true the Epstein-Barr lies dormant in the system and doesn't go away. One of the (many!) tests they ran to determine why my white cell count is high was the Epstein-Barr panel. I was postitive for having had the virus (but I'm not sure when I had it... it went undiagnosed), but there was no active infection at that time. Once you have it, you always have some of the antibodies (or whatever) in your system. I may have chronic reinfections, which could be the cause of much of my fatigue, but I'd need to redo the " active infection " blood test to determine if it has flared up again each time I suspected it. My doctor also told me that the proverbial " they " now think that the Epstein-Barr virus is not as highly correlated with CFIDS as originally thought, and I believe he said there is research going on in this area. One of his collegues in the doctor's office is a specialist in CFIDS, so I trust this information. Anyway, I gues what I am trying to say is that if you do decide to get tested for Epstein-Barr, make sure they run both panels... to see if you've been exposed as well as if you have an active infection. I'm glad that y " just " has mono and not something more scary and life-threatening. > > > From: " @ Home " > > Subject: releif! > > > > Well, has mono. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. I suppose if there was any possibility of me having it, it would have showed up in one of the many blood tests I've had done. I've had many episodes of bieng sick where I could have had it, but who nows when? And, I think I read that after a certain age you don't get it anyway. I may have tested for it though. I'm gonna concentrate on food now. None of us eat very much, and I'm thinking we need to start eating more. I just watched a show about food, and the way people used to eat - like before all this fatty fast food was around, seams like a good way to go. Gotta fill my family up on good, wholesome, food. meat, potatoes, and such. We are all too skinny anyway.
