Guest guest
I'm wondering why the Rheumy didn't order any blood work. That's what mine did. He ordered it the first day I went to him and when that bloodwork didn't give enough results, he sent me to another lab and I had more bloodwork done. It wasn't until that second round of tests that I was diagnosed with Lupus. Robyn > Ya know I went to see the Rheumatologist this morning. My primary Dr. got the appt immedioately for me cause he wanted me seen soon. > > IT WAS A BIG WASTE. > > He wanted to know if I had seen a dermatologist or if I had liver problems or kidney problems or lung or heart problems. > > Since I could not tell him I had specific problems or diagnosed with anything to do with them he was wishy washy. > > He said well it could be lupus and it could be something else. He then tells me that wehn I go into menopause that the lupus symptoms should subside. > > WELL HELL. If he isn;t willing to say it is lupus then why would the lupus symptoms subside. > > Then he tells me that after I see the gastro Dr. be sure and come see him again before I go see my primary Dr. in 2 months. > > He gave me more pain meds. I HAVE STINKING PAIN MEDS. I need something viable to treat the symptoms not mask them and drug me. > > To top it off this is the ONLY Rheumatologist office that my insurance will let me go to. It is the two of them in the office and the other one will not accept any more HMO patients. > > Guess who has an HMO? I cannot complain about the HOM though they have always been good. > > I better go before I rant and rave too much. > > Ruth in CA

Guest guest
Unfortunately if I am going to get a seond opinion in another city it would be Los Angeles or Fresno. I am not even sure of what other Rheumatologists are here in town. Bakersfield is big but the only city in county that has viable medical care that I see. What happens here a lot and this is with all areas of medical care is people go to Fresno or Los Angeles because the Dr.s here, especially the specialist, are complete quacks. Tehy are just not willing to do anything. Ruth in CA Re: Wasted Appt. Hi Ruth, Is there any way you could go to another city inside the same county maybe? I had a HMO for years and I found another doctor about 45 minutes away....you have a right to have a second opinion and it doesn't seem as if you got a good first opinion to me. I would call your HMO and tell them....there is something maybe they could do about this! I am mad for you!!
