I would give him more or increase the dose he gets a bedtime.

Or should I just give him more when he's wide-awake at 4am?

Input?

Hmm. Putter sometimes wakes up at 4 a.m. I just lay there and ignore him

and he usually falls back asleep.

The other night, our youngest cat, , came onto my pillow while Putter

was awake. I petted her and she fell asleep by my head. Putter laughed and

laughed and then he caught her and pulled her under the covers with her.

is not the kind of cat that you treat this way and she left.

She returned however before Putter was asleep. " Fool, " thought I, but she

was right. Putter was too sleepy and he just fell asleep and slept

peacefully on my pillow.

I wonder how she knew?

Maybe try waking him before that if he's consistently up during the night.

If you wait till 4, it might make him groggy for school...unless it's the

same dose he takes during school.

We didn't run into this problem with . He only needed it to settle him

down so that he could sleep.

Funny, I called 's neurologist today to get his clonidine increased

from .1 mg to .15 mgs at night so he would sleep past four. His

neurologist said that we could do this, but I'd have to take in

for an EKG to make sure that it was not causing ill effects. Clonidine

is a blood pressure medication, so I'd recommend calling your doctor

before you increase 's just to be safe. Just my opinion.

I would ask the doc about giving him more at bedtime. It's really not

healthy to wake up at 4 a.m. every night. Boone did this last night, btw.

Hope he doesn't repeat it tonight.

Clonidine has a tendency to do this...the body accomodates to it and

you need more and more to calm a child down. That's why we had to

move on to other meds.

Options? Talk to the doc about increasing the dose. OR try adding

in a magnesium supplement...and/or EFAs. OR, depending on the

behaviors you are seeing, make environmental/program changes.

Ah, there is definately something to it! n, who usually goes to bed

without much difficult, was heard to be jumping on his bed until almost

11:00 last night. Not to mention his 4 time-outs yesterday ... Anyway, all

should be better by Thursday or so once the moon passes full.

I used to work at a couple bars, and without fail the full moon brought in
