Guest guest
Well, the GI dr says he's 99% sure has acid reflux disease. He may also have a gastric ulcer. He scheduled for an upper GI. Also wants to know if his GI tract is working ok. Said something about that value thingy. Has to drink that berium stuff. I've never had an upper GI. Just wondering how he will tolerate it. Do they put that camera thingy down your throat, or is it an ultrasound? I asked so many questions, and got so much info, that I forgot to ask about the test. On the paperwork I got, it's called - " UGI SBFT study " He rx'd prevacid, a non-irritating diet ( is NOT happy about this!), raising the head of his bed. After 2 months, we see him again to see if it's all working, and if we can re-introduce some foods (well, is hoping he can re-introduce some foods after 2 months. Dr didn't say anything about that, but the nurse did). I just don't know how he will do on this diet. Seems like all the things he really loves, he can't have. It's not gonna be fun. He also is to eat small meals and snacks all day, instead of meals. Dr gave him a note for school, so they will let him eat all day long. lol He'll like that, as long as I can find stuff that's not on the diet that he will eat!!!!!!!!! No juice is the worst. He loves his OJ. did ask me if he's really good on the diet, could he just sneak a few sausages for saturday morning breakfast? lol I asked the Dr if acid reflux could make feel so sick and make him bend over when he walks. He said yes. It also explains his cough, headaches and tiredness. All I know about it is what I see on the tv comercials. I thought it was just heartburn. also had a fever when they checked. So, he probably has a virus now too. He also has a sinus infection. No wonder he's been feeling so bad! He said he's sure isn't lactose intolerant, like his pediatrician told us years ago. Oh, that made me mad. All that money I spent on trying new foods. All the fights over what he could and couldn't eat. All the lactose enzyme supplements I've bought and forced to take. I have just about lost all faith in our pediatrician now. The GI Dr knew about EDS. Didn't think that acid reflux has anything to do with it. So, what I want to know is how many of you have this, how do you handle it, and is it EDS related?
