Guest guest
Thanks Bonnie I havent had the dr appt yet (It's at 4) but I am going to ask for a back xray just in case and to make sure everything is fine. Any suggestions on what to do when it happens again? I had experienced smaller ones but this was just awful! Stacey

Guest guest
Stacey - Sounds like a muscle spasm in your back to me, too. If the doctor concures, ask him/her if she knows which specific muscle went into spasm. Also ask if there was injury and inflamation or just muscle spasm. Gentle stretching and working out trigger points can go along way to prevent future attacks. Also biofreeze, icy-hot, etc can help with immediate pain. I can't take meds so I', always looking for alternatives. I bet Mike can recommend some accupressure and polarity moves, too. If icing helps, one cool way to do it is put a paper cup with water in the freezer - (you have to plan ahead for this, cause you need the water to freeze) - afer frozen peel back the paper from the cup to expose the ice - it looks similar to the old fashioned push-ups I loved to eat - and you still have a nice amount of paper cup to hold on to. You can put it back in the freezer and use it again later. If heat helps, take a steaming hot bath with epsom salts and ginger extract - it's a warming herb. Hope you feel better soon, I know it's no fun! Any > suggestions on what to do when it happens again? Guest guest
you did what I would have done....ibuprofen and pain meds. Ice the area to begin with and then after a day or so you could use heat.... Guest guest
Try this - get on your hands and knees. Put your bum down on your feet and your arms out in front of you, and lay there with your back sort of curled. You know - like with your head in your lap. This helps 's spasms stop. Then, the pain isn't as bad, and she can move. You'll still need the percocet and muscle relaxer - but try only for a day or 2, and use ice. Also, I have found that the more I keep moving around, the faster it gets better. (Hard to do when you're hurting - but it really does get better faster) I found if I use the meds continuously for the first day or 2, and keep moving, it gets better faster. Good luck. I know how much that hurts. has been taken to the hospital about 4 times with it. Hugs,
