Guest guest
Cindy L., I, too, loved camping, hiking, and gardening in the sunshine, but have had to switch my time outdoors to evenings and early mornings. I now garden in large packing crates which I salvage from local import companies when they put them out to be picked up by the trash truck. Little do they know I grow tomatoes, potatoes, beans, herbs, flowers, etc. in them. Since my yard is mostly concrete patio with planting beds around the edges, and most of those are in the shade, I just planted deep forest type things in those, and put packing crates in sunny areas on the patio cement, and fill them up with compost I make myself from cuttings, etc. Works for me. I wear lots of bug stuff when I'm out in the evenings, but early mornings there are few bugs, lots of fresh air, and enough light to see without direct sunlight on me. I find I like gardening in the mornings. I am unable to walk any distance, now, but that may improve after seeing the specialists this next two weeks. Keep your chin up, honey. Wear a hat if you must be out in full sun, and long sleeves. I have found that crinkled cotton clothing treated with the RIT sunscreen product works best. I wear long, loose sleeves in the sun, and roll them up indoors. Hope that is helpful for you. Love, MM
