, I understand completely!!!

When my husband first got sick we didn't have any insurance. You would not believe what I went through arguing for him! Some dr. won't even make appointments! When we finally got the TennCare, it seemed like only the took it, (other than our PCP, she's great) specialist wise. I kept throwing fits with them until I finally got him the care he deserves. It was a battle, but he now has a great PCP, Cardiologist, AND Neurologist.

Hang in there & give 'em H**L!

It seems that all the Doctors are on the other team!!..........O.K.......O.K.......I'll shut up again.

Hi ,

I have never known just what a D.O. is. What is osteopathic? My Mother goes to a D.O. and she has told me that they have more schooling than an M.D. Is she wrong? I have tried to look the difference up in the past but I guess I don't know how to find that info because I have never found anything. My Mother has so many different medical problems and her D.O. never seems to want to do anything but perform test after test......and expensive tests at that. He ordered so many tests last year that Mom's insurance company said they wouldn't pay for anymore tests. And guess what......no dx after all the tests. , your experience is with a D.O. seems to be much different from Mom's. To bad you lost him.

I hope all goes well with your up coming doctor appointment and you get to bottom of why you are feeling so bad and what's up with those kidneys. Take care.

Karol

D.O. s VS. M.D. s /explanation please

Hi Barb, Believe me.......I have learned my lesson about getting my lab. reports! This is something I will insist on from now on.......I have my medical files from Dr. Foreman, the Rheumatologist that I used to go to when I was first diagnosed......they had a wonderful staff of Doctors. It was a Teaching Hospital, and all the doctors there worked together and coordinated and cooporated with each other in their patients care. My Rheumatologist was also a Professor of Rheumatology.....and gave lectures ....everyone knew and respected him. He saved my life. This was the University of North Texas Health & Science Center & Osteopathic Hospital.........I got spoiled.....then Wham! My Health Insurance dropped all the D.O. Doctors from their Network of Health care Providers. Since then it has been Hell trying to find good Medical Care and getting the doctors to communicate with each other and with me. I seems that Doctors of Osteopathy are looked down on by the Medical community for some reason.....stating that since they don't have the same number of years of Medical Training that Medical Doctors do......they are not `Real Doctors' or some such nonsense...... It has been My experience that the D.O.s tend to treat the Patient as a Whole Person..........instead of a Patient with a whole lot of symptoms! When I take my files from Doctor Foreman, who diagnosed me......saved my life.....and gave me such good care during my first five years of living with `The Wolf'......I get the remark ........,"Oh he was a D.O.!"........and won't even look at my medical records from him...... How ever I have decided to make copies of my records from Dr. Foreman......of course still keeping my copy.....(.by the way ,My Primary Care Doctor has a copy of Dr. Foreman's notes......but when I asked if those records were sent to the New Rheumy.....that I'm waiting for an appt. with.......I was told that they weren't ."Just Dr. Ohman's Notes." were sent.) Can someone explain this to me?......I just hope that my Apt. Manager will let me make copies on their copy machine......(.it's about 3" thick !! ) If not I'll go to Kinkos or someplace like that ...... Can you explain this prejudice against Doctors of Osteopathy to me? It seems that all the Doctors are on the other team!!..........O.K.......O.K.......I'll shut up again.
