Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I have to ask - why do you feel that you are being pushed into this test? A colonoscopy without sedation in someone with EDS is a very risk-ridden thing - if you were to move suddenly while the scope was in place, your fragile intestinal tissue could tear and perforate. My advice to you is that if you feel that you are being pushed into the test, re-evaluate the need for it at all. I assume that you are having issues that the doctor feels requires this test, so it may be a case where the good outweigh the bad. Plus, if there are concerns with anaesthetics (It's my experience that this test is not performed with a general anaesthetic, but rather with heavy sedation), you have the right to request an anaesthetic consultation first - in the hands of a anaesthetist, you will find hopefully, someone who will listen and understand to your concerns. Barring that, have your doctor contact Dr. Grubb in Toledo, Ohio and ask for his opinion, he is a leader in the U.S. for POTS. http://www.mco.edu/physicianapp/physingle.jsp?ID=75 Jill
