Sherry,

My son is HF autism, and had exzema for years! His Dr. gave us

steroid face creams for two years, that did nothing for it! Except

maybe cause more harm! We no longer see that Dr. That Dr. informed

me that his enzymes in his saliva reacted with his sensitive skin

and when he drools at night, this was the reason for the skin

problems. I guess back then I was stupid enough to believe it.

Fast Forward almost 2 years....

Anyway, our DAN Dr. told us the exzema is usually caused by a

combination of food and environmental allergies. My son's was just

around his mouth....

Well, after removing some foods from his diet, he no longer has any

sign of exzema on his face.

We had done GFCF diet since December 1st, and then began taking

other foods away in March and even before we began our our

new " strict rotational diet " his face was cleared up. We had also

began some allergy shots for grasses, molds, trees and pets.

I think we've been working pretty hard on yeast issues too....so

between those things, I think we're done seeing it.

I have no proof if is was due to a certain food, or a combo of

things, I'm just thankful it is GONE!

We are also chelating for mercury, among others, and really his face

had cleared up before ever starting chelation, so I don't have a

connection with the mercury/exzema thinking. Just my 2 cents worth!

- Thanks for the input. I searched the net for pics of exzema

and I swear the bumps on his face dont look like exzema to me.

Right now they are hardly visible...they dont itch at all.

To me it looks more like an allergic reaction of some sort.

I need to research the pigment or lack of in his skin as well.

The spots on his face that appear lighter....I am thinking this is

lack of pigment?

Off to read some more.

thanks and have a great day

For my #3, eczema and other skin bumps/rash were caused by:

Foods he did not tolerate [and my kids' food intolerances were caused

by metals, so there is your connection]

Supplements he did not tolerate.

Yeast

Viruses

He has had eczema forever, altho right now it is finally gone, because

I hit him with the antivirals. [he no longer has the other issues].

This can be either vitamin A toxicity, or vitamin B12 deficiency. Or

eczema.

Good luck.

All 3 of my boys get something that sounds similar...they look something

like pinpricks -- a red dot or bump in the center -- but pale around. In

them it's usually a contact allergy but can also be from foods, particularly

dyes & other artificial ingredients. My ped calls them hives but they don't

look like hives I've seen. But, in a more severe reaction, they can turn

into, or be interspersed with, the large red itchy welts I think of as

hives.

If they are bothersome I have used a baking soda & /or oatmesl wash to soothe

them, but they usually don't seem to itch or anything. They go away when I

find the trigger. Vit C can help speed this. It can take anywhere from an

hour to several weeks for them to clear completely so sometimes I only know

what it was after they're gone & I reintroduce the suspected problem. In my

boys it's almost always a synthetic or artificial product.

Only my oldest has autism.

Hope you don't mind a newbie jumping in. Those spots just sounded too

familiar. But I could be way off. :)

Sara- Thanks for your thoughts on this too. He is on Feingold diet

(no additives and def. no dyes). The dyes really set him off.

He has been off reg diet lately so maybe this is my culprit.

They dont seem to itch so I am just going to try and get his Vit C

upped a bit and then get back on the diet.

Thanks
