Guest guest
Oh , I am so sorry that happened to you! You know it takes all kinds to make the world go round. I have never contacted a temple for assistance in transportation (well let me take the never away, the first time we went we told them we were driving ourselves and they gave us a $50 check to cover gas, etc.). But all of the Shriner's that I have encountered at Shriner's Hospital have been great. The ones I have talked with are ones in the waiting room who have brought other families. I would say that this guy is not the norm. I know what you mean about your familiy not asking for anything. That's the way it is with our family. We are completely on our own and if the one time I did ask for some help and got treated like that.....I would feel the same way. I hope your weekend goes better than your week! If you want to try out Shriner's, I wouldn't let that one rude guy keep me away. I'd say do whatever makes you feel best. At least you can see Dr. Dobbs either way. Guest guest
I won't it just hurt my feelings the way he treated me and I based us going to Shriner's on them helping us get there, that was one of the biggest issues we have. Now my husband informed me that his work is talking about switching insurances again! This is the 2nd time this year! Thinking I might have to go with shriner's cause I don't know if the next insurance will pay for him to go to the children's hospital. lol my days are just getting better and better. lol trying to keep my head up and I know that we will get through this. I did send wings of hope an online application so will wait and see how that goes. Thanks for all of the support and advice it really means alot to me. Guest guest
I am so sorry you had so much trouble with that man. When we signed up for the shriners hospital. The hospital did everything and hooked us up with the proper shrine. We didn't do anything. I told them I would be driving myself but they did not offer us money or vouchers like they did pam. Lord I know that would be good. Pam do you get paid for gas everytime? We have paid for gas ourselves every single time. I have a question. If you are wanting to go to childrens hospital anyway, you would drive there right? Why do you need to be driven to shriners? I am just trying to understand, maybe I read your post wrong. I have only good things to say about St.Louis Shriners hospital. The people have always been nice to me, the shriners there have been nice to me and my children all 3 of them always walk out of that hospital with a new stuffed animal every time. I will never choose to go to another place unless Dr.Dobbs don't go there anymore. Please don't let one idiot,( sorry for being mean but he was) make you turn against the hospital because trust me they aren't all like that. HTH Hang in there I have had to week from > you know where!
Guest guest
Hi BIG hugs! I am SOOO sorry you are dealing with such rudeness! I hope Dr. Dobbs gets back to you ASAP and you can get Tyler's cast repaired/replaced. Marilouise 9/9/03, LCF, cast #4/2nd series Owen and 3/20/99 > I have had to week from you know where! Guest guest
Well I was wanting to go to Shriner's so that I could get help with the transportation. When we go to the St. Louis Children's Hospital it costs us a 20 dollar co-pay which is not much at all. The only thing is that Tyler is older and he needs to be put to sleep to do his castings cause he is so big and strong and fights alot. SO they have to do his castings outpatient surgery. We have a 20 percent co- pay on those and it may not sound like alot but it adds up quick! That is another reason we wanted to go with Shriner's cause there, we wouldn't have the outpatient surgery co-pay. I still havn't heard from Dr. Dobbs. We have an apt. for thursday at Shriner's, but Tyler's cast on one of his feet is dented in on the heal and I am not sure that it will last until then. Like I said I am not sure what to do at this point. I only know that I will do what it takes to get the best for my son. Guest guest
- No it was just that one time. It was from the local Shrine Temple. They wanted to know if we wanted to be driven and we told them we would be driving ourselves and they gave us a $50 check that first time. It's probably something they would provide for each trip. But we decided we would take care of getting ourselves there, but it is reassuring to know that they are there if it got to the point where we needed it.
