Guest guest
Hi! I joined this group for diabetes support and diabetes friends. I have had type 2 since 1998. I have had good A1C's (5.9) my last one. But, I need to lose weight. I am on Avandiamet 2Gm/1000mg 4 tablets a day. Also take omega 3 fish oil supplements. Also Mevacor and synthroid. I tried to have a new years resolution to walk 4 times a week, but it has dwindled down to one time a week. I always seem to have an excuse to not exercise, which my Dr. says is key to doing better. I rarely test my blood sugar. When I do in the morning it is 128 to 130. I work 50-60 hours a week, have 2 daughter's at home (15yo is in high school and 21 yo goes to community college ) and 1 daughter away at college. My hubby is disabled, so I work outside the home and he does what he can at home. I mainly am always on the go. My 21 yo daughter is type 1 since she was 12, and is on the pump.I think she is one reason I don't test much. With type 1, she tests, does a bolus of insulin and it's fixed. With type 2 I test, try to figure out what I ate that made my BG skyrocket, and it doesn't get fixed. I did enjoy your hobby line of questioning. Can driving a teenager everywhere under the sun count as a hobby? Actually I volunteer at church and have fun researching stuff for sunday school lessons as a hobby. I need to stop using as an excuse that I am a " Busymom "

You have taken a step in the right direction when you admit that you need to lose weight. " Busy mom " is not an excuse for not exercise. LOL. You find time to go to work, you find time to take your daughter where she needs/wants to go. Now, you need " me " time. Don't think of walking 4 times a week as a resolution. Think of it as time you are going to spend for yourself to get healthy. Your last A1c test results were good, but unless you start testing more often and start losing weight, those results are going to start going up. Don't let that happen. Don't think of your walks as exercise. As you are walking think about pleasant things. When I'm out walking, I'm " daydreaming " about things I would love to do to our house, how I want my flower gardens to be this spring, sometimes I'm even thinking ahead to other holidays and what I want to do for others. If it will help you to walk, it is okay to make a commitment to the group that you will walk 4 times a week then post at the end of the week how many days you walked. We will help you stay on track. Then when you reach your weight goal, you can post that. At that point, you can encourage others to start walking/exercising. You can do this. Start today or no later than tomorrow. hugs Eunice
