Janet,

My son has never been gfcf.We did do the Ketogenic diet which is high

fat, high protein for a short time. I tried taking him off milk and it did

nothing. All the tests indicate no allergy. We also didn't have yeast

problems but bacteria problems(the buggers mutate)no pun intended.

Yes.

The GFCF diet is not necessary for chelation, most people who got well

chelating that I know of were not on it.

My suggestion is to do a controlled reintroduction of gluten and casein

at separate times as the final trial that it is OK. Introduce it at

one meal with a few " clean " meals afterwards, if no problem, then just

reintroduce it and see what happens. First one, then the other. You

may wish to have plasma cysteine (and sulfate if you want to)

determined since GFCF is also lower in thiols and their precursors -

which make cysteine - and if this is funky then there may be effects,

good or bad, on putting dairy back in the diet.

Yes.

> Would that be too hard on the liver?

No. But it might be hard on him otherwise. Try it and see if he

tolerates it.

> Would a 3/4 schedule alternating DMSA/ALA with ALA alone be better?

No.

My son had " slight " change in behaviors with gfcf. After much

experimentation, I discovered he tolerated basically no foods. I used

HNI enzymes and then rotated foods to find which ones he did not

tolerate with enzymes. He needed a different diet entirely.

ALA chelation has removed all of his food issues.

> Can I take him off the diet?

My son lost his food issues at round 50, and I removed the enzymes.

He still needed certain foods removed tho, until about round 70. But

yes, it is possible he might not have problems with gluten/casein any

more. You can try re-introducing them one at a time.

> Do people ever do 3 days on/4 off when using DMSA and ALA?

I did 3/4 with ALA only.

up to you of course. Since you say there is no change in

his behaviour, I would have a hard time continuing it I think.

(Too much work if there is no change.)

> Do people ever do 3 days on/4 off when using DMSA and ALA?

yes, people do.

> Would that be too hard on the liver?

probably not, at the doseages you are talking about.

Pay attention though, of course, to see if this schedule seems

okay for all. Also, you may find there are some weeks you

need to skip for one reason or another, so if you TRY for

every weekend, it may really be more like 2/3 or 1/2 of

the time--- at least that is what happened to me.

> Would a 3/4 schedule alternating DMSA/ALA with ALA alone be better?

either way is fine for mercury. If lead is a problem then

do use DMSA *some* of the time--- every other round would

be fine.

good wishes,

Moria
