Hey everyone,

Does anyone know for sure what metal SODER (could be spelled solder)

is made out of? Lead? Tin? Zinc? I am just really worried because it

looks like lead and when you heat it up you breath in the fumes and

smoke.

,

My husband works with the stuff. I will ask him when he gets home

from work tonight.

But I think there is something called " flux " that he uses instead

that doesn't have lead.

Some solder has lead in. I think the lead free solder is antimony based.

Dagmar.

Dear ,

I don't think anyone replied to your post -- Solder CAN be made of lead.

Look at the package for ingredients. Copper pipes put in before the 1980's

(I think that was when things changed) had lead solder and can contribute to

lead poisoning.

There are other kinds of solder, though, so I would check the package. I

hope this helps.
