Guest guest
I am in fact not surprised at the apparent indifference towards resurfacing. IF this VERY VIABLE ALTERNATIVE was widely accepted in the U.S. it would obsolete and require most orthopedic surgeons to learn something new. The FDA must also take a portion of the responsibility by not approving the new and proven devices and subsequently giving the insurance providers a curtain to hide behind. May be it is time for us all to become more vocal with our demands. The THR status quo Does everyone else find it disheartening how often it's the case that finding out about resurfacing is like swimming against the tide? There must be thousands, literally, thousands of orthopaedic surgeons and doctors acquainted with them who declare that resurfacing is new/untrustworthy/not reliable/can't be done/etc. The spreading of new techniques throughout the orthopaedic community is glacially slow and the community, collectively, has to be doing a huge dis-service to its patients. We receive postings on these site at the rate of two a week or more saying 'My orthopod said re-surfacing is not reliable but now I've found this site it's clear they were not completely right. Is it really possible? Will I get my life back, etc.' Think of all the patients who don't find out about this site. It just galls me that so many orthopaedic authorities are spreading mis-information about resurfacing and restricting patient's choices. Chris. Really. Now if I could only convince my insurance company... Steve
