Guest guest
Hi there group! We haven't posted in a long time but I just wanted to pop in and let you all know that we will be heading back to see Dr. Ponseti in the next few weeks. Here's a short version of Olivia's story: Livie was born 10-18-01 with a severe left clubfoot. She was casted locally and headed for surgery before we discovered the Ponseti method. We went through a few doctors who claimed to be using the Ponseti method before finally going to Iowa to see Dr. Ponseti himself when Livie was 4.5 months old. Livie had 3 casts and a tenontomy done in Iowa and began wearing her brace in April of 2002. About 1.5 months into brace wear, Dr. Ponseti suspected that Olivia had loose ligaments and reduced her brace time to nights only. In April 2003 the loose ligaments were confirmed and she stopped wearing her brace altogether. Recently she has begun turning her foot in when walking and we have contacted Dr. Ponseti. He has asked to see her and assured us that if she is relapsing, that 2 to 3 more casts will fix up the problem. We are seeing Dr. Ponseti the morning of 4/19 and are staying in Iowa until casting is complete. Is anybody else going to be there there that week? We would love to meet some other clubfoot families!
