The mom, Crystal, whose bi-lateral son was featured in the short

article in Parents magazine finally posted on Parents messageboard,

and here's what she wrote (!):

Hi everyone.My name is Crystal Crum and our son Trevor was in the

August issue of Parents magazine for clubfoot.I am new to this and am

just now figuring out how to use this post. I have seen many of the

pages of discussion on clubfoot and am pleasantly surprised of the

others who have mentioned the same treatment. I am also saddened to

hear of the families going through the surgery and only wish they

would have heard about the Ponseti treatment earlier. I am a true

believer in his way of treating Clubfoot. I feel any doctor not using

this method really needs to look at some of the children having the

ponseti method done and see what amazing results are taking place.

Surgery is no longer the most effective way to treat clubfoot and may

not have ever been the most effective. I am also very surprised to

hear that some are not wearing the bar at night. This is a very

crucial part to the treatment of clubfoot. Our son Trevor was also

used in the Clubfoot conference at the University Of Iowa Hospital.

Dr. Ponseti had done the procedure on Trevor while around 30-40

doctors were watching and video recording along with pictures. They

had an opportunity to ask questions as well as see the technique

being done. These doctors were from all over the country. We are

going back in November for another part of the conference to " show

off Trevor's feet " ! The University had also sent us a copy of the

procedure and we watched it in amazement as we truly knew that we

made the best decision for our sons future!! I urge ALL parents

please research for a doctor who uses the Ponseti method and get a

second or first opinion. If travel is a problem Angel Flight a non-

profit organization can more than likely help. (We had been driving

the 10-10.5 hour drive on a weekly basis in the beginning) until we

were told about Angel Flight.
