Guest guest
DO = Doctors of osteopathy They're sort of like a medical doctor, a chiropractor, and a naturopath all rolled into one. Osteopaths are trained in spinal and other manipulation techniques like chiropractors. They're licensed to prescribe medicines and perform surgeries though, (chiropractors cannot). Osteopaths are medical doctors who are more like naturopaths, in that they stress natural therapies like naturopaths, but naturopaths can not prescribe medicines or perform surgery and osteopaths can. Normally a DO would be a lot more likely to use herbs and supplements as part of their medical treatment than a conventional DR. would. Osteopathy is a belief in a holistic approach to medicine. Osteopaths believe that all body systems are interrelated, that disturbances in one system can affect the functions of other systems. _____ From: T Sent: Sunday, December 05, 2004 5:54 AM To: NaturalThyroidHormones Subject: Question, what does DO stand for? I have often wondered this... How are they different from traditional doctors? The very first doctor that gave me Armour was a DO, and I never asked, he was referred to me by a lady I worked with then MANY years ago. He was the only DO I have ever gone to but I just recently found one in this area where I am living now. Is there hope this one might also prescribe Armour? *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Cross your fingers that I may have a new Doc to add to our list of good, Armour prescribing doctors... It will be a month or so before I can afford to see her, but WOW this is exciting! Guest guest
I know several people that go to a very good DO in my area, however he is in the same office building as my Dr. so not sure if he will take me on as a new patient. My friend that goes to him is HypoT, but she is on Synthroid. I think I will give him a call anyway and see what happens. , let me know if you find a DO that will prescribe Armour. You are not that far for me to come up your way! If I find one, you can come to sburg! We'll have lunch!! Talk dogs! You can groom for me while you are here!! Hehe :-)) Kathy Re: Question, what does DO stand for? Thanks so much! I will be checking out this new DO in my area! WOW what great news for WV thyroid sufferers!
