That is NOT necessarily true! I would get a second opinion if I were you. I and others have had multiple surgeries with success in most cases. I say this because I had an interesting experience with my ortho that did 4 surgeries on my shoulders. AFTER I was diagnosed, I went to see him about hip troubles I was having. I need my records for SSD issues and when I got them and read them I was shocked! This surgeon that had 4 previous surgeries on my now stated in my record " THIS IS NOT A SURGICAL PATIENT ANY MORE " . Augggggggggggh! Just because I was diagnosed did not all of a sudden change my insides! That was a perfect example of doctors who cover their own butt for lawsuits by just saying that EDS should/cant have surgery. Since that time I have had 3 other various surgeries..... PLEASE! You need to make sure that surgery is REALLY out of the question. I don't advocate surgery but if it will work to relieve the pain and fix an issue with a joint I say go for it unless you have had bad prior experiences and/or have issues that you should not have surgery for specific EDS reasons (healing slow/sutures pull out) stuff like that or you have issues that you should not have surgery no matter the EDS. Just my 2 cents of course but it make me mad to hear ::::Doing surgery on someone with EDS would not help anything. Augh!!!!!!!!!!!1 Debbi
