Guest guest Report post Posted February 8, 2003 Thanks, I needed my butt kicked! No it couldn't possibly be that time of the month, I had surgical menopause 13 years ago at the age of 35. However, my pcp did insist I go off my premarin shortly after surgery because of the latest bad press, I TOLD him they would change their mind the next week about it! so I suppose I could have finally depleted the store of estrogen I had between the weight loss and being off the med. So far today I am being very good! We'll see if it continues after I go to work tonight, altho last night I was VERY good! All I had at work was a protein shake and 60z of Dannon fit'n'lite creamy yogurt. Sorry about not signing the post! Guest guest Report post Posted February 8, 2003 I take 1.25 per day.......... good dosage for me. Guest guest Report post Posted February 8, 2003 Well Phyllis, I am no doc, don't play one on TV or the net either...... LOL BUT........ I can tell ya..... sounds to me like hormone depletion is an issue. My doc doubled my dosage after surgery....... now take 1.25 of premarin. If I don't........ I am unfit for human consumption so to speak. I would suggest a hormone profile. Call your PCP, demand to get back on it, or go live with him....... that worked for me. My old pcp was an idiot, and he said I didn't need it....... this was before the hysterectomy. Said I was too young........ started memopause at 31. And I KNOW when I started it........ LOL. So told the little idiot I was moving in with him and he could deal with me. Made him think....... and gave me premarin. Whew, cause would hate to have to live with that man. LOL As for the butt kicking.......... grinning......... glad to do it. LOL. We all need that at times. I know I do. Your time to get even will come....... I promise I am proximal and I know it is recommended to take in 60-90 grams of protein, but I feel better at 120 grams. So that is what I strive for, and occasional get 150 in. The moral here is listen to your body. Hugs, Jules Romero noliptoday@... Guest guest Report post Posted February 8, 2003 HI- I also am having a hard time staying on ANY kind of " program " . I can never seem to get enough protein, water, or exercise. THIS WINTER SUCKS!! I recently had a " freak " accident, that landed me in a cast for over six weeks. Totally bummed me out I recently started walking again. I was up to 4 miles a day, so its BACK to square 1.over the last few days I've walked for " 1 " mile. slow but i did it. I also had to quit smoking YET AGAIN!!!!!!! today was day 4 nonsmoking and i just lost it for no good reason a bought a pack. The group that I attended has a 5 no-no list- no caffeine, carbonation, sugar, chocolate, or alcohol the first year. I just had my 6 mo. post-op, and told the Dr, I drank a cup of coffee in the am,and diet soda now and then. He was sooooo cool about it. basically, said yeah, so? here i was like " should i say anything???? " I lost 30 lbs.pre-op, and about 75 after. so I guess im doing okay. I totally believe in the " exercise " really helping to move the scale down. I cannot tolerate bread, which is really a blessing since that was a real hard one for me to resist. I think the mind-set that really helped me the most was the realization that my " BODY " was in control---not my HEAD. i could " want " whatever, but when i got sick and i mean SICK a few times that kinda took the " want " out of most things. I also dont " deny " myself of things i would have in the past. stupid things like " full-fat " dressing on salads. I dont eat the volumes or rather " cant " so that takes away the guilt, binge cycle. Im okay with what I can eat and just have kinda accepted it. I think its hard to be 100% great, when you have had bad eating habits for so long, I think like anything, time will help us .this is a great forum to get out ideas and thoughts. Guest guest Report post Posted February 8, 2003 My surgeon made me go off my Premarin. I think because it is time released. I had a hysterectomy 7yrs ago. So far I have not flashed. Guest guest Report post Posted February 8, 2003 In the study that caused so much panic about estrogen......try to remember a few points. Health care providers still recommend it for symptom control at menopause. Generally short duration...0-5 yrs or so. The breast cancer data was not new...suggested that after 5-7 yrs on the medication, at the rate of 8 in 1000 persons...who were not previously at risk the risk of invasive breast CA was seen to rise. This is significant, but we have known about some of this risk before. If its the only thing used to prevent heart disease and stroke there are better options...but the study size was small in these cases, 38 in one group with events, and 30 in the other group without. It says we need more information. In the short term, if you need estrogen, and are at higher risk for heart or stroke problems, an aspirin or other blood thinner should be discussed with your Dr as this might well decrease your risk. Guest guest Report post Posted February 9, 2003 i can sympathize!1 I tried for 3 months to quit smoking before surgery and was unsuccessful, mostly cause I had to go to work! I had my last cigarette on 10/7 the night before surgery and I was just flat out too scared to have one since. I just knew I would be the one with the ulcer since I have had them before, and I am scared to death of stomach cancer (my big brother died of stomach cancer in '88) What really helped tho was that I was home for 4 weeks! I did NOT have to deal with work, so it was much easier. I hadn't smoked at home since May when I got new carpet and furniture and because my DH had quit smoking due to Emphysema. Wish I couldd help with the nicotine monster! Phyllis Re: help HI- I also am having a hard time staying on ANY kind of " program " . I can never seem to get enough protein, water, or exercise. Guest guest Report post Posted February 9, 2003 yes mam! LOL I will try to get in to my GYN Re: help Irisheyes - go get that Pap smear! I work in a cytology lab where they read pap smear results and I can't tell you how important it is to get a yearly pap whether you have a uterus or not. The latest and best pap is the ThinPrep pap - demand it! It is so much better than the old conventional style pap smears. Now I will get down off my soap box - LOL - and tell you that I am new to the group and I want to know everything about WLS - both good and bad. Email me anytime you want, if you want. I am hoping to have surgery in late April or the first week of May. Let me know how you're doing, and yes, get those hormone levels checked, and please have that pap done. Guest guest Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Sherry - You are doing fine. Stop comparing yourself to others. Stop weighing so often. Only weigh once or twice a month. Keep working out, that will help. Have you measured yourself lately? Taken pictures to compare with your before pictures? I bet you'd really notice a difference there. Your doctor is right. It will happen. I would try increasing your protein drinks to 2 a day, maybe even 3 and see if that doesn't help. You're not absorbing much from your food at all. Don't give into that depression and convince yourself to just give up. That won't do you any good at all. C'mon Sherry - keep your chin up! You're gonna do fine. Believe it. Guest guest Report post Posted September 15, 2005 Hi there - I am in the hospital with mine.
