Guest guest
<From: ConcreteAngel Does anyone have a pile of skin fall off heels and have bleeding slices in heels as well? > ~ TJ, I don't have skin flake off my heels like that, but my (adult) daughter does....she has a time with the skin on her feet. The " bleeding slices " you mentioned, are those splits in the heel skin that have split opened? If so--I know exactly what that's like. They hurt something fierce!! I can sorta keep them controlled a little with *lots* of lotion on my feet. I started using Liquid bandaid. It helps keep it sealed. Then use a band aid over it to cushion it. CindyH Wisc. Per a doctor's advice, we got some Bal Balm (the stuff used on a cow's tits) and rubbed it in and then put a pair of socks on. It works, but the stuff smells yucky! If you can get past the smell, it's good stuff. You can get it online or a pharmacy can order it for you. Love Lana
Guest guest
Hi Lana, I agree, Bag Balm is great stuff!!!! It is also great to use under vinyl gloves for the hands and Cling Film/Saran Wrap for your feet - over night... Also, if you use it with the vinyl/plastic on top, the smell won't bother you... There's also some things you can do, in order to " adapt " such stuff to yourself. You can e.g. take a cheap base lotion and add bag balm to it. If you use a stick blender, it blends easily. You can then add your favorite aroma therapy oil instead of perfume, so that you mask the yucky smell. Just be aware that with many vaseline based ointments or just plain vaseline (paraffin gel), you will often see it in the lotion, it doesn't blend in completely. But it doesn't matter, it works as well and is easy to apply. There's also a very good oil to use on skin. I just have no idea what it is called in English. My dictionary doesn't have this word listed. I'll try to explain instead. If you drive around here in Norway at summer time, you will see huge fields covered with yellow flowers. They grow this as food for cows. In Norwegian it is called " Raps " . They also make oil from these plants. The oil is great to use for cooking, instead of other vegetable oils. But several of us Psoriatics up here has discovered that it is really good at making your skin soft and smooth, and it also loosens Psoriasis scaling very well. It is a very " light " oil, it is easy to wash off, also to wash out of your hair. What I normally do, is that I buy a cheap, non-perfumed lotion, and add the oil to that. That way you get some preservatives and such into it, and you get a nice and smooth lotion which has moisturizing powers way beyond lotions in general. You also save a lot of money on doing this. If I make a lot, I use the stick blender, if it is just a little, I just put it in a lotion bottle and shake it. If you want to have a lot of oil in the lotion, it is an idea to look for a lotion that has Polysorbatum 80 listed in the ingredient list. That is a substance they use in order to make it easy to mix in oils and such, it is the stuff they use in bath oils in order to make the oil blend into the water. You can also easily make your own very nice bath oil this way. Approx. 1 pint of your favorite oil, approx. one teaspoon of Polysorbatum 80 (buy it at a compounding pharmacy) and your favorite aromat herapy oils for a nice scent. E.g. Lavender to relax... Good for the skin too, if your skin easily gets irritated. I often add one more, but I just can't remember what it is called right now... Aase Marit >My daughter had this happen all the time.
