Guest guest
Heidi, Check out this link ( http://hometown.aol.com/vc11/week1.htm ) to see the plaster moldings of the Ponseti method. Also, at Dr. Ponseti's site, you can see the stages of the corrections demonstrated on a skeletal model at http://www.vh.org/pediatric/provider/orthopaedics/Clubfoot/Clubfoot.ht ml Hope this helps! Guest guest
Heidi, Real quick like - I just wanted to mention that Dr. Ponseti actually is known to change casts every 5 days without any problems whatsoever. Two weeks seems too long. I would absolutely question that. And yes, the first casts don't turn the foot, they point it down and the last casts turn the foot out. So that sounds just fine to me. Here's something you can do - take pics of your son's casts and describe the treatment plan and email Dr. P. He answers emails on Monday and Friday so if you could get it to him tonight or tomorrow morning he may have time to respond early this week. Just to know you're in good hands and your treatment plan is a good one. And while I don't recommend it - if you find you can't get good treatment in ID it's only a 9-12hr drive to Portland (depending on where in ID you are of course) where you can see a doc at Shriners who does cast correctly (Darbi is a patient there - I'm in Portland). There's a Mc house right there too - and Shriners is free. So it may be something that is an option for you if nothing else works out. Also, didn't Robin say there was a doc at the Spokane Shriners doing Ponseti now? Might be worth your while to see if he's (she's) on Dr. P's list and if you can get in there.
