Remeber the canary in the coal mine - if the canary keeled over and died it

was a warning for the miners that it was dangerous. I have something detailing

it somewhere, I'll see if I can find it for you

a tv show called 20/20 did a segment on teflon coated pans. They

showed that the website says that it only releases the toxic vapors

when it goes above a certain temperature, not what happens in normal

cooking. However they showed that when they cooked bacon, that it

quickly exceeded that temperature and the bacon was barely cooked.

The temp kept rising as they cooked the bacon longer. The vapors are

associated with what is known as Teflon Flu symptoms in humans, like

malaise, backache, body ache, etc.

I'll bet you can find info on it if you do a search for the words

20/20 and teflon .

I got rid of all my fry pans after that show. I figured, if the

vapor kills birds, and is known to cause teflon flu in humans, then

wth is it doing to my young children?

Also, the 20/20 show did mention that the active chemical in teflon

(which is also in stainmaster carpeting, and the coating that they

put on some " wrinkle free " and " stain free " fabrics) has been found

in every single person that they tested, and it was more concentrated

in babies and young children. I am vaguely remembering that they

said this chemical has been associated with cancer, but I don't

recall if that was in lab animals or humans, or both.
