I've met Jeff (1999 conference) and he is as inspiring in person. A

genuinely nice man. There aren't many of this around these days. (Hi,

Jeff! <waves>)

However, we must always do what is best for us (or for any children) and

this may not be the same as for another person. Our EDS is always a bit

different than for another EDSer. And sometimes we make mistakes in our

ignorance. Like me having that osteotomy done. Go off work in Feb 2001

for 8 to 10 weeks to recover from a straightforward surgery and I'm now

on long term disability. But I didn't know of any EDSer who had tried an

osteotomy, so I was the guinea pig. And now we know. But I have been off

work for almost three years now and the chances of me being able to

return to work are somewhere between slim and none. A very high price to

pay for being the guinea pig. <sigh>
