Guest guest
Thanks for the helpful information. I measured 's foot as you suggested, and realized that I am not only 1 or 2 mm off, but about 10 or more! I marked on his leg where it should be, and thought I now had the answer. Well I am now totally beside myself, because I simply CANNOT get his foot to go down to where it should be. I found that his foot is lying sideways in the shoe, and when I get that sorted out, it goes down, but then no matter how much force of shoving the heel in, or pulling the strap tight (often do this with a helper to keep the foot in place) I find that once the strap is fastened and the laces tied, the heel is about 5 mm or more too high, moving quickly to even more. I have done it over and over and over, until I want to cry, but have had NO success in getting the heel so low. I am at my wits end now. now has two VERY horrible looking sores on his heels. They are both about the size of a nickle, white with a red ring around it, and one of them has a purple spot in the middle, which is just getting bigger. I have tried every single tip you have given, but just can't get this right. I thought I was so well read in how to get the shoes on that I would manage well, but now I am really despairing. I called the doc yesterday, and spoke to the nurse. She suggested I call the orthotist, and get the shoes adjusted. They were closed, so I am going to call today, but the receptionist is SOOO rude, that I'm sure she will only give me an appointment for next week - though I will fight for one today. However, I don't think that they will be able to do anything with the shoes, but I must try before I call them back. Now with the long weekend ahead, I am so stressed that I feel sick. I simply cannot put the boots back onto those tender little feet, but I know how quickly the feet relapse. I am thinking that perhaps he needs another cast. I sent an email together with a photo of 's feet to Dr. Feldman this morning, and will see what he says. However, another cast will not solve the problem of the boots. Once he is back into the boots, the problem will recur. Is there any hope?? and 06/24/04 bc dbb 23h
